Contest Rules Open to all AAGIS area professionals Contest Administrator & Non-Voting Member Judges were all other AAGIS Officers (4) who voted purely on submitted logo/desc Contest Form & Ballot random listing with alphabetic list Judges listed favorite to least favorite (A-K) Judges rated logos from 1 to 11, with 1 being the highest vote and 11 the lowest Tallied per Logo Entry

12. Logo Contest Entries There were 6 authors who submitted 11 logos & ideas Thanks to all, the AAGIS is proud to have such talented and creative professionals in our midst! The following are all of them (in no particular order)

13. Entry I derived this concept using mod block letters inspired by M.C. Escher’s work to spell out “AAGIS” and having in the background a faint outline of the Alamo edifice and the Texas flag. Above and below are spelled out “ALAMO AREA” and “USERS GROUP” I believe this is an attractive logo design and with the help of an artist to identify the best color palette for the letters, flag and Alamo outline it will prove useful.

14. Entry My idea was to take the recognizable roofline of the Alamo and use that as the outline for the logo, thereby incorporating an Alamo theme without being too obvious. The center shows Bexar and the surrounding counties, not limiting the focus strictly to the San Antonio area. The entire design has the feel of a Mexican tile. The design was created 100% in ArcMap.

15. Entry This logo would symbolize AAGIS through its use of: The shape of the great State of TEXAS and the inset background of the Texas flag. Being an organization in Texas it is important to show we hail from Texas. I have included a shadow of the Alamo because we are from the Alamo area which is represents us here in San Antonio and the surrounding area.

19. Entry I designed it as a globe which other logos use to represent world mapping like ESRI, with the top having the Alamo and making the letters GIS to be the globe.

21. Entry The Alamo projecting upward as a 2 dimensional image as some GIS mapping does and along the walls of it to have the letters that make up the name Alamo Area GIS.

22. Entry This is a spin off of the GIS Day logo. I always liked the logo. I thought it was simple and to the point.

23. Entry San Antonio is known for the Alamo and the San Antonio Riverwalk. The symbol is the remembering of the Alamo, the developing of San Antonio and the growing AAGIS.
