4 RMIT University©2008 Information Technology Services 4 Rationale for revisions to 3-year degrees Improve student engagement and experience –Transition to Higher Education and embedded academic/learning skills –Cohort experience and degree-based tutorials Increase student choice and flexibility –Unlocked degree structures –8 common core courses, 8 major courses and 8 flexible courses –Approved suite of minors in Business and in other disciplines Broaden skills and enhance graduate outcomes –Build and enhance communication and critical thinking skills, and global and social awareness –Opportunities to enhance outcomes by packaging disciplines to meet the needs of the business community for flexible, well-rounded and broader- thinking graduates

5 RMIT University©2008 Information Technology Services 5 Review and consultations in 2010 A 12 month review focussed on existing 3-year Bachelor of Business degrees The review was driven by consultations with internal and external stakeholders: –Careers Advisers –VCE students, current students, recent graduates and Alumni –Business community, professional associations and graduate employers Opportunities to package specialisations according to student interest or professional need were favoured highly by students and graduate employers Degree structures were validated by graduate employers and representatives of the business community A review of existing 4 year Bachelor of Business degrees in partnership with stakeholders is planned for 2011-12
