2007 IUFRO All Division 5 Conference, Taipei Department of Wood Science and Design National Pingtung University of Science & Technology NPUST National Pingtung University of Science & Technology Research method This research was analyzing the random-incidence scattering coefficient of wood based materials in the reverberation test room. The test sample was made of board which was pasted with parallel wooden sticks and all the measurement processes were following ISO17479-1 method. Wood based materials are the sustainable and healthy materials for interior decorations. The acoustical properties of decoration materials are important factors for interior design. Introduction 3

2007 IUFRO All Division 5 Conference, Taipei Department of Wood Science and Design National Pingtung University of Science & Technology NPUST National Pingtung University of Science & Technology According to the results of experiments, sound scattering properties were depended on the types of coating and structure of wooden decoration materials. The result of coating variations indicated that there wasn’t important for sound-scattering performance of four kinds of wood based materials before coating. In terms of different material with same surface coating NC, lumber core and Japanese ceder have increased sound-scattering performance on high frequency after coating; PU coating material has also improved sound-scattering performance on high frequency. 4 Results & discussions ( 1 ) Fig.1 Comparison of scattering cofficient with variety of experiment

2007 IUFRO All Division 5 Conference, Taipei Department of Wood Science and Design National Pingtung University of Science & Technology NPUST National Pingtung University of Science & Technology 5 The result of structure variations showed that shortened distances of sticks of the test sample were able to improve sound-scattering performance, and the deeper of sticks, the better sound-scattering performance achieved. Regression analysis showed that there was important relevance between depth variations of dimension and sound-scattering performance. These results of sound scattering properties in this research will be serviceable to the building acoustic design and the improvement of the sound quality in the interior environment.
