2. مقدمة INTRODUCTION Each year many People are injured in and around their homes. Unsafe conditions such as overloaded circuits and damaged insulation as well as misuse of extension cords and electrical products can create fire hazards or result in electrocutions. في كل عام ، يصاب العديد من الأشخاص داخل منازلهم أو حولها بسبب الكهرباء. يعود السبب إلى انعدام ظروف السلامة ، مثل زيادة الحمل على الدوائر الكهربائية ، أو تلف العوازل ، أو سوء استخدام وصلات الأسلاك والمنتجات الكهربائية مما يؤدي إلى احتمال حدوث حرائق أو صدمة كهربائية.

4. الأسلاك الكهربائية CORDS  Make sure cords are in good condition - not frayed or cracked.  Arrange cords so they are placed out of traffic areas.  Never nail or staple cords to the wall, baseboard or to another object.  Do not place cords under carpets or rugs or rest any furniture on them. الأسلاك التالفة قد تسبب الحريق أو الصعق الكهربائي Damaged cords can cause fire or electrical shock.  تأكد من الأسلاك الكهربائية في حالة جيدة-غير عارية أو متشققة.  نظم الأسلاك بحيث لا تطأها الأقدام.  لا تستخدم الدبابيس أو المسامير لتثبيت الأسلاك إلى الحائط أو اللوحة القاعدية أو أي شيء آخر.  لا تضع الأسلاك أسفل السجاد أو الأثاث.

5. القوابس PLUGS  NEVER FORCE A PLUG INTO AN OUTLET IF IT DOESN'T FIT. Plugs should fit securely into outlets.  Never remove the ground pin (the third prong) to make a three-prong fit a two-conductor outlet; this could lead to an electrical shock. يستخدم الإصبع الثالث لتوصيل الجهاز بالأرض لغرض منع الصعقة الكهربائية The third prong grounds the appliance and prevents electrical shock.  إذا لم يدخل القابس داخل المقبس بسهولة ، فلا تقم أبداً بإدخاله بالقوة. يجب أن يدخل القابس داخل المقبس بسهولة.  لا تنزع أبداً الإصبع الثالث للمقبس الثلاثي كي يدخل في المقبس ذو الفتحتين. قد يؤدي هذا إلى حدوث صدمة كهربائية.

6. وصلات التمديد EXTENSION CORDS  Do not overload cords.  Use extension cords on a temporary basis; they are not intended as permanent household wiring.  Purchase extension cords with safety closures to protect young children from shock hazards and mouth burn injuries.  اعمل على عدم زيادة تحميل الأسلاك.  استخدم وصلات التمديد لفترة مؤقتة فقط ؛ إنها ليست بديلاً دائماً للتوصيلات الكهربائية المنزلية.  استخدم وصلات التمديد ذات الغطاء الواقي لحماية أطفالك الصغار من الصدمة الكهربائية والإصابة بالحروق.

7. المقابس OUTLETS  Check for outlets that have loose-fitting plugs, which can overheat and lead to fire.  Replace any missing or broken wall plates.  Make sure there are safety covers on all unused outlets that are accessible to children.  Avoid overloading outlets with too many appliances.  افحص المقابس للتأكد من عدم وجود أي ارتخاء يؤدي إلى زيادة الحرارة وحدوث حريق.  استبدل أغطية الحائط المفقودة أو المكسورة.  تأكد من وجود الأغطية الواقية فوق كل المقابس غير المستخدمة والتي في متناول الأطفال.  تفادى زيادة الحمل الكهربائي على المقابس

8. فاصل التيار الآلي GROUND FAULT CIRCUIT INTERRUPTERS  Use GFCIs in any area where water and electricity may come into contact.  Test GFCIs regularly according to the manufacturer's instructions to make sure they are working properly.  استخدم فاصل التيار الآلي في المناطق التي يحتمل أن تصلها المياه لتفادي حدوث تماس.  اختبر فاصل التيار الآلي من فترة لأخرى طبقاً لتعليمات المصنّع للتأكد من سلامة تشغيلها.

9. مصادر المياه WATER SOURCES  Don't leave plugged in appliances where they might fall in contact with water.  If a plugged-in appliance falls into water, NEVER reach in to pull it out - even if it's turned off. First, turn off the power source at the panel board and then unplug the appliance.  If you have an appliance that has gotten wet, don't use it until it has been checked by a qualified repair person.  لا تترك الأجهزة الموصلة بالكهرباء في مكان يعرضها للتماس مع الماء.  إذا وقع الجهاز الموصول بمصدر الكهرباء في الماء ، لا تحاول أبداً أن تخرجه بيدك ، حتى لو كان مطفأً. ابدأ أولاً بفصل مصدر الكهرباء من لوحة التحكم ، ثم افصل الجهاز.  إذا تعرض أحد الأجهزة للبلل ، لا تستخدمه إلاّ بعد فحصه لدى أحد الفنيين.

10. لمبات الإضاءة LIGHT BULBS  Make sure all bulbs in light fixtures are the correct wattage for the size of the fixture.  Make sure bulbs are screwed in securely; loose bulbs may overheat. تؤدي الفولطية المرتفعة إلى أن تصبح اللمبة مفرطة الحرارة. Bulbs with too high wattage may lead to fire through overheating.  تأكد من أن فولطية جميع اللمبات المركبة مناسبة لإطار التثبيت.  تأكد من أن اللمبات مثبتة جيداً. إن اللمبة المرتخية قد تصبح مفرطة الحرارة.

11. قواطع الدوائر والفيوزات CIRCUIT BREAKERS AND FUSES  Make sure circuit breakers and fuses are the correct size current rating for their circuit. If you do not know the correct size, have an electrician identify and label the size to be used.  Always replace a fuse with the same size fuse.  تأكد من أن حجم قواطع الدوائر والفيوزات هو المناسب لمقدار التيار في الدائرة ، واطلب من فني الكهرباء أن يحدد ويسجل الحجم الواجب استخدامه.  استبدل الفيوزات دائماَ بأخرى من نفس الحجم.

12. الأجهزة الكهربائية APPLIANCES  إذا تكرر احتراق الفيوز في أحد الأجهزة ، أو انفصال قواطع الدوائر ، أو إذا تسبب في صدمة كهربائية ؛ افصل الجهاز فوراً وأصلحه أو استبدله.  If an appliance repeatly blows a fuse, trips a circuit breaker or if it has given you a shock, unplug it and have it repaired or replaced. Even an appliance that is not turned on, can be potentially hazardous when left plugged in.

13. ENTERTAINMENT AND COMPUTER EQUIPMENT  Make sure equipment is in good condition and working properly; look for cracks or damage in wiring, plugs and connectors.  Use a surge protector bearing the seal of a nationally recognized certification agency. أجهزة الترفيه والكمبيوتر  تأكد من أن الأجهزة في حالة جيدة وتعمل جيداً ؛ تأكد من عدم وجود تشققات أو تلف الأسلاك ، أو المقابس ، أو الموصلات.  استخدم مثبت تيار من نوعية جيدة ومن إنتاج شركة معروفة.

14. السلامة خارج المنزل OUTDOOR SAFETY  لا تستخدم أجهزة قص العشب أو غيرها من الأدوات الكهربائية أثناء المطر ، أو فوق عشب رطب ، أو في ظروف البلل.  افحص الأدوات الكهربائية و أجهزة قص العشب الكهربائية قبل استخدامها للتأكد من عدم وجود أسلاك عارية ، أو قوابس مكسورة ، أو أغلفة متشققة أو مكسورة.  Do not use electric-powered mowers and other tools in the rain, on wet grass, or in wet conditions.  Inspect power tools and electric lawn mowers before each use for frayed power cords, broken plugs and cracked or broken housings.

15.  تأكد دائماً من أن وصلة التمديد تحمل علامة الاستخدام خارج المنزل ، وأنها مطابقة لفولطية الكهرباء المطلوبة للأدوات.  تأكد أن تفصل جميع وصلات التمديد في حالة عدم الاستعمال.  السلم المعدني موصل للكهرباء. احترس عند استخدامه من اصطدامه بأسلاك كهرباء العلوية.  Always use an extension cord marked for outdoor use and rated for the power needs of your tools.  Remember to unplug all portable power tools when not in use.  Since metal ladders conduct electricity, watch out for overhead wires and power lines. السلامة خارج المنزل SAFETY OUTDOOR

16. الطقس العاصف STORMY WEATHER أثناء الطقس العاصف يجب :  عدم استخدام الأجهزة الكهربائية ( مثل مجفف الشعر ، جهاز التحميص ، الراديو ) أو الهاتف.  عدم الاستحمام.  تجهيز كمية من البطاريات الجافة لاستخدامها في المشاعل والراديو في حالة انقطاع الكهرباء.  استخدام مثبت التيار مع الأجهزة الإلكترونية. During an electrical storm:  Do not use appliances (i.e., hairdryers, toasters and radios) or telephones (except in an emergency).  Do not take a bath or shower.  Keep batteries on hand for flashlights and radios in case of a power outage.  Use surge protectors on electronic devices and appliances. Lightening can enter homes and buildings through a direct strike, through wires or pipes that extend outside the structure, or through the ground. Once in your home, lightning can travel through the electrical, phone, plumbing, and radio/television reception systems.

17. أجهزة التدفئة SPACE HEATERS  أبعد المدفأة مسافة لا تقل عن متر واحد عن أي مادة قابلة للاشتعال ، مثل الفراش ، والملابس ، والستائر ، والأثاث ، والسجاد.  لا تستخدم المدفأة في الغرف التي بها أطفال بدون مرافقين.  تذكر أن تفصل المدفأة وانزع القابس في حالة عدم الاستخدام  Keep space heaters at least 3 ft. away from any combustible materials such as bedding, clothing, draperies, furniture and rugs.  Don't use space heaters in rooms where children are unsupervised.  Remember to turn off and unplug heaters when they are not in use.

18. مصابيح الهالوجين الأرضية HALOGEN FLOOR LAMPS  أبعد مصباح الهالوجين الأرضي عن الستائر ، والملابس ، وأية مواد أخرى قابلة للاشتعال.  افصل المصباح عند مغادرة الغرفة لفترة طويلة.  لا تستخدم المصابيح التي تصدر حرارة عالية في غرف نوم أو غرف لعب الأطفال.  Never place a halogen floor lamp where it could come in contact with draperies, clothing or other combustible materials.  Turn the lamp off whenever you leave the room for an extended period of time.  Never use torchiere lamps in children's bedrooms or playrooms. Halogen floor lamps operate at much higher temperatures than a standard incandescent light bulb.
