Complementary and Alternative Medicine CAM Diverse medical and health care practices, systems, and products that are not presently considered to be part of conventional medicine. Holistic nursing may include CAM Rx Increased public interest and use Some proven through research; many others being researched

Complementary Medicine Versus Alternative Therapy Complementary Medicine = Used together with conventional medicine. Ex: using massage along with traditional analgesic medications. Alternative Therapy = Used in place of conventional medicine Ex: using a special diet to treat cancer instead of undergoing chemotherapy

Integrative Medicine Combines mainstream medical therapies and CAM therapies for which there is some high-quality scientific evidence of safety and efficacy.
