Stages of Development 1. Pre-Production 2. Production 3. Post-Production
8
Pre-Production 1) Create Script Create Script 1. Start with Body of Script 2. Save Intro and Conclusion for last 3. Chunk into logical segments (consider “actions” and length) 4. Roughly plot “action” for each logical segment 2) Create Storyboard Create Storyboard 1. Divide each segment into smaller “action” scenes 2. Sketch artwork for each scene tying it to the narrative 3. Show “action” effects for each scene
9
Pre-Production 3) Choose Animation Software 1. Learning curve is steep 2. For web, end product should be viewable across platforms (Mac and PCs) 3. For web, end product should be scalable 4. For education, end product should be accessible 4) Build Interface prototype Consider… 1. How user will navigate 2. How user will interact 3. Accessibility for visually and hearing impaired

Production 1) Audio 1. Record Voice Over Narration (digital output) 2. Edit audio 3. Convert audio 2) Artwork 1. Build vector based artwork for each scene 2. Consider using “color blind” safe colorscolor blind 3) Animate 1. Using code or animated effects 2. Include sound effects (if needed)
11
Production 4) Program the interface, incorporating animated sequences 5) Place end product on web serverproduct
12
Post-Production Test, test, test! Final review by client Make necessary edits
