2 Energy Department 2 Real-time Controller The objective: To control MHD plasma instabilities in FTU using EC power deposition. This requires: -Mode detection -Mode tracking by EC deposition Actuators: 2 Antennas (each with 3 degree of freedom) and 2 EC Power Gyrotrons Sensors: 12 ECE, 5 Mirnov coils and 6 encoders for each launcher axis

3 Energy Department 3 Each launcher is moved by three AC brushless motors. The two launchers will scan r DEP in the range 0<r DEP /a<0.75 with an accuracy of  0.5 cm and a dynamical performance of 1 cm to be scanned in 10 ms. Antennas The Application Motors
