Syphon Syphon is a structure constructed at the intersection of two waterways. Syphon carries the discharge of one waterway under the other. Usually the smaller waterway’s discharge passes under the large one.
2
≥ 0.3 Syphon
3
Hydraulic Design Syphon may be constructed of concrete or steel.
The design procedure is similar to the culvert’s design procedure. It is recommended to reduce the water velocity to 1.1 m/sec to reduce the friction losses which is usually large due to the length of the syphon.

Aqueduct Aqueduct is a structure constructed at the intersection of two waterways. aqueduct carries the discharge of one waterway above the other. Usually the smaller waterway’s discharge passes above the large one.
