Use the Wizard l After starting the program, a Wizard comes up. l Select Auto Content

Next n The Wizard appears n You click Next

Type of Presentation n You have a number of choices n Each of the selection buttons along the left will bring up different choices on the right. n Choose one that most closely fits the type of presentation that you will be doing.

Just in case n Can’t decide? n Use General n and Generic

Enter what information... n Your are actually filling out the first slide here. n Go with a “good” Title n Add a salutation to your name n Anything in the additional information box shows up on the screen, too. Mention what class this is for and add a date.

Finally n Click next and you’re Finished... n with the Wizard.

Next n Normally, up pops the list of slides with everything on them. n You’re in Outline mode under View off the Main Menu n All those slides seen are the content suggested by the Wizard n You can change the wording, delete and add slides, etc.

Slide View n Click on View up on the main menu. n Click on Slide seen right at the top. n Whatever slide your cursor was at in Outline is the slide you see now. n Page up and page down moves you through the slides.

More Slide View info #1 n At any slide, click on the text and a Text Edit box appears. n Change the text as desired. n It’s an object, move it and shape it as desired.

Ran out of Slides? n Click on Insert on the main menu. n Click on New Slide n It’s added just behind the slide you are viewing. n It asks you to format the text boxes and high lights your current choice. n Choose and Okay.

Information Theory n Power Point is a useful tool for present thumbnail sketches. n Depth is provided by the speaker. n Your slides, therefore, are the springboard into your discussion.

Info. Theory Con’t n What to include on the slides are basically your speaking notes. n You’re the entertainment! You fill in the blanks. n Power Point forces you keep it simple by limiting the amount you can put on each slide.

Saving your Work n There’s the usual Save & Save As. n But Pack and Go is the way to go. n Click here and you can save your presentation to use on another computer. n Even one without PowerPoint on it! n It’ll create an executable on a floppy that you take with you.

Your Assignment is… n Design a Power Point presentation around a subject of your choice. n It should be a minimum of twelve slides long. n Post it on your web page for the Professor or others to view. n Submit a paper version for credit. Click on File, Print and change Print What to Handouts, 6 per page.

Thank You n This ends the presentation n Please Stand Up and applaud. n Throw money (Canadian accepted). n You have to tell them that it over. n They think that they are at a movie theatre and they are waiting for the credits.
