The Penalty Kick Awarded when defender commits a penal offence inside his own penalty area and the ball is in play Time may be extended to allow a penalty kick to take place, but time expires once the result of the kick is known

Correct Procedure (Prior to the kick) Ball stationary on penalty mark Kicker to be identified (but can change for retake so long as new taker is identified) Goalkeeper on goal line between posts All other players must be –Outside the penalty area –At least 9.15m from ball –And behind the penalty mark (therefore can never be offside!!)

Correct Procedure (Taking the kick) Signal from referee Ball must be kicked forwards Ball in play when kicked and moved Retake if interference by outside agent whilst ball on way to goal Taker cannot play the ball twice

Punishments Offence by defenders –Allow a goal to stand. –If goal not scored then retake penalty Offence by attackers –If goal scored, disallow and retake. –If goal missed – goal kick (or corner kick) –If goal missed and ball stays in play, indirect free kick to defense Offence by both - retake

Penalty Kick Competition Referee to choose ends Winner of coin toss can have choice of first kick Only players on field at end of game to take part Team numbers equalised before competition Initially, 5 nominated from each side to take kicks alternatively

Penalty Kick Competition All players to stay in centre circle apart from –The taker –Defending goalkeeper on goal line between posts –Other goalkeeper outside penalty area and on goalline Competition ceases once result is known If a draw after 5 attempts each, then ‘sudden death’ (but always an equal number of attempts)
