1 Creating a Site Defining the Local site Setting up the Remote Site Identifying the Testing Server

2 Defining the Site Get Dreamweaver running. If the Files window is not visible, pull down the Window menu and choose Files. On the Files tab of the Files window, pull down the Sites menu and choose Manage Sites. When the Manage Sites dialog appears, click the New button and choose Site.

3 Local Info In the Local Info category of the advanced settings, type the name of the site into the Site Name field. Next to the Local root folder field, use the Folder button to select or create the folder in which you will create the site on your local PC. This local root folder should not be in Web space.

5 Remote Info (For Web server on FTP) Click the Remote Info category to make the remote info appear. Pull down the Access menu and choose FTP; the FTP settings appear. In the FTP host field, type your FTP host, such as: webs.oet.udel.edu In the Host directory field, type your FTP folder, such as: websites/yourLastName/ In the Login field, type your FTP login, such as: fthStudents

7 Testing Server (For Web server on FTP) Click the Testing Server category to reveal the Testing Server settings. Pull down the Server model menu and choose ASP JavaScript. Pull down the Access menu and choose FTP; the FTP settings appear. Verify that the FTP settings are correct. In this course, the URL prefix is: http://webs.oet.udel.edu/fthStudents/yourLastName/

9 Remote Info (For Web server on local PC) Click the Remote Info category to make the remote info appear. Pull down the Access menu and choose Local/Network if you have a Web server running on your local PC. Next to the Remote folder field, use the Folder button to select or create the remote folder, which must be in Web space on your local PC.

10 Testing Server (For Web server on local PC) Click the Testing Server category to reveal the Testing Server settings. Pull down the Server model menu and choose ASP JavaScript. Pull down the Access menu and choose Local/Network. When the Testing server folder and the URL prefix fields appear, verify that their settings are correct. Click OK and Done to close the dialogs.

11 Publishing Databases If you plan to publish Access databases for use with Dreamweaver at your OET Web site, in this course, you put the databases into your fthstudents/databases folder, not the fthstudents/websites folder. The rest of this presentation shows how to do this. If you are not publishing a database, you can stop here.
