16 How long will I have to wait before I receive the publication I ordered? Orders will be placed within two business of receiving the requests from DOTs. Normal mailing times then apply. 7 1 FAQs http://www.trb.org/publications/SponsorPubFAQ.aspx 4 1 2 3 How can I order multiple printed copies of this report? For the purpose of this limited beta test, only one hardcopy will be sent per order. I am a contractor for one of the beta test states, am I eligible to participate in this test? No. Only orders to employees of state DOTs using a DOT email and hardcopy postage addresses will be fulfilled. What is the objective of this beta test? TRB is exploring several options for improving how we deliver our publications to state DOTs – ensuring we get the right publications to the right people, in the right quantities, and in the right format. Why is TRB conducting the beta test? TRB is responding to the results of a survey sent out to all TRB Sponsors where 85% stated they would find it valuable or very valuable to allow staff to opt for electronic delivery only. This is a test to see whether state DOTs can switch to “electronic-first, hardcopy if needed”. How were the test states selected? Beta test states were those that were either known to have issues receiving hardcopy publications and/or involved with the TRB State Representatives Advisory Panel (STRAP). I have a question not covered by this FAQ document, who should I contact? There are several sources you can contact regarding this beta test: your TRB state representative and/or TRB’s Michael LaPlante (MLaplante@nas.edu, 202-334-3215) and Russell Houston (RHouston@nas.edu, 202-334-3252).MLaplante@nas.eduRHouston@nas.edu 5 6

17 8 Is it too late for my state to join the test? Not at all. If you are interested please contact your TRB state representative. If they are interested in participating, they should contact Michael LaPlante at MLaPlante@nas.edu for details. MLaPlante@nas.edu 9 Are PDF formatted publications the only form of electronic publications TRB will be making available? For now, yes. But TRB is currently investigating and testing other electronic formats, including those compatible with the iPad, Kindle, Sony eReader, etc. 10 I am an employee of a federal agency, how will this test and potential new process impact me? If successful (or as modified to be successful) this publication accessibility project will be expanded to all TRB Sponsors. 11 If successful, when does TRB believe the program will be available to other states? In the winter of 2011. 12 How does TRB’s current print subscription service work? Your state representative coordinates which publications are automatically sent to state DOT employees on a subject/topic area basis. 13 Who is eligible to participate in the current subscription package? All state DOT employees. 1 …more FAQs… http://www.trb.org/publications/SponsorPubFAQ.aspx
