Oral Presentation Plan ahead and Practice until you feel confident.

Be Ready If you planned and practiced many times, you are able to relax in front of your audience. If you are still anxious, take a few deep breaths before you begin your presentation. Don’t be self-conscious. Don’t worry about your performance. Try to focus on your presentation. Present as if you were simply speaking to your friends.

Assess Your Audience and Purpose Define your presentation. For example, “In this presentation, I want to …. ” Determine how much information you can offer in the allotted time. Time yourself to be sure.

Use Cues to Orient your Audience Explain what motivated you to find your topic and what made you ask the current research question. Tell the thesis and forecast statements. Support the thesis along with topic sentences and their details briefly. Use transitions properly. End with a summary of the main point you have made. Use visuals, if possible, to have an effective presentation.

Rehearse Your Presentation Rehearsal will help you feel confident. You will get familiar with the material that you present. You can check the time while rehearsing.

Present professionally TTry to make eye contact with your listeners in the room. UUse your hands to gesture as you would converse. Move them naturally. TTry to avoid vocal mannerism such as “like,” or “you know.” BBody language is also a kind of presentation tool. SSpeak loudly enough so that your listeners can hear you. Speak clearly and distinctively. DDress properly.
