3 Who’s That? My name is Emily Cathey. I was born and raised in Spring Hill, TN. Spring Hill is a small town in southern middle Tennessee. It grew from 2 red lights when I was little, to four red lights when the Saturn car plant, was built. Now we have a grocery store, two fast food places and a pizza place. I have one sister and come from a big extended family. I live on our family dairy farm that my grandfather had when my mom was little. When he got sick he switched to beef cattle and that is what we have today. I have been riding horses since I was about 8 years old and now compete in Cowboy Mounted Shooting. I also raise ducks. I love my family and I am definitely a small town girl. In high school, I was active in FFA, played on the varsity basketball team, and was involved in track and field. I graduated high school in 2003 and began college at the University of Tennessee. After deciding that it wasn’t right for me, I moved back home and attended Columbia State Community College, until coming to Tennessee Technological University in the spring of 2005. I hope to attend the University of Tennessee’s College of Veterinary Medicine. I then want to go back home and practice on large animals in Giles, Maury, and Marshall Counties. I hope to one day open my own clinic and maybe specialize in equine. Other than horses and enjoying time on the farm, I love to hunt and fish, go camping, and do just about anything outside. I also really like photography, and love westerns and country music. I am really excited to be serving as your 2006-2007 Eastern Region Vice President. I know this year is going to be fun and successful!! Emily Cathey Eastern Region Vice-President ekcathey21@tntech.edu ekcathey21@tntech.edu
