Engagement @ CQUniversity 4 The university recognises that staff are at the forefront of the Engagement agenda and are crucial participants in building mutually beneficial partnerships with external communities and stakeholders and that it is crucial to be able to measure and report on these engagement activities.

Engagement Database - Why? 2 The Engagement Database (ED) will enable CQUniversity to map and understand the current level and types of ‘engaging’, ‘scholarly engagement’ and ‘public service’ activities ongoing between the University and its diverse and geographically spread communities. ED will be a fundamental enabler of CQUniversity’s vision to become Australia’s most engaged university. 3 ‘Engaging’ – which flags opportunities that the university could pursue, and ‘Engagement’ – which maps current activities or projects that demonstrate Engaged Learning & Teaching, Engaged Research & Innovation and Engaged Service. ED aims to capture two levels of activity:

‘Engagement’ 4 Engagement? This category allows logging of current activities or projects characterised by reciprocal and mutually beneficial partnerships with external communities and stakeholders in the following areas: Engaged Learning and Teaching Activities that involve learning and teaching partnerships with external communities and stakeholders e.g. Work Related Learning, Program Reference Committees, Inbound Guest Lecturing etc. Engaged Research and Innovation Activities that involve research partnerships with external communities and stakeholders e.g. Community Based Participatory Research, Applied Research projects etc. Engaged Service Activities that involve sharing institutional resources with external communities and stakeholders e.g. Using CQUniversity Facilities, Committee/Board membership etc.
