2 Summary Robot built by Professor Hiroshi Kobayashi Robot is called “Saya” Robot originally built to be a receptionist at Japanese companies Robot was reprogrammed to teach Used to teach students about Technology Saya gave a lesson to a 5 th grade class Students were impressed but teacher wasn’t as impressed

3 Should Robot’s be allowed to teach? Yes: Teach children about technology Help in schools where there is a shortage of teachers May cause students to be more interested in school No: Robots won’t be able to stop/breakup any altercations Robots may have trouble enforcing rules Take away human jobs Parents might not trust their kids with robots

4 Solutions Extreme Solution: Robot’s should be allowed to be teachers. Extreme Solution: Robot’s should be forbidden to be teachers. Robot’s should only be allowed to be human teachers’ assistants and help teachers when needed.
