Performance parameters: Response time Typical goal of commercial web sites is under 4 seconds – In some critical applications, such as financial services, expected response time is less than one second Components – Response generation : web server, application server and/or database server – Response delivery: network infrastructure – Rule of thumb: 20% generation, 80% delivery
