ID/MT Smoke Management Program 4 Program –Manage smoke from prescribed forest and range burning to protect NAAQS –Members include state air regulators, and federal, state, tribal and private land owners/managers –Executive committee is decision-making body –States are divided into airsheds with designated airshed coordinators –Each member pays their share of the program –Operates during the spring, summer, and fall burn seasons

ID/MT Smoke Management Program 4 Reporting –Burners turn in list of planned burns for calendar year –Notification required day before planned burn –Annual report including accomplished burns –Annual full membership meeting

ID/MT Smoke Management Program 4 Forecasting Unit –Meteorologist, NWS, and program coordinator work together –Daily wind/temperature profiles collected at designated locations –Real-time air quality data provided by state air regulators –Restrictions based on forecasted meteorology and air quality –Restrictions issued each day by 4 PM –Restrictions issued by elevation or airshed (www.smokemu.org)
