* Microbes are single-cell living things. * They are very very tiny * Microbes live all around us. * Most microbes are not harmful. * Microbes that cause sicknesses are called germs. Germs: ARE A TYPE OF MICROBE

There are FIVE different types of microbes Bacteria Viruses * There are more bacteria than any of the other kinds. * Bacteria are one cell creatures * Some bacteria are very helpful. * Sometimes when they multiply too much it causes sicknesses. * Viruses are the smallest microbes * Viruses attack and invade cells. Then they make copies then attack other cells. * Some viruses get people sick with chickenpox, flu and many other diseases. * Viruses can spread through a cut or if we eat or drink something that has a virus. Viruses can often be breathed in if someone sneezes or coughs around you.

Mrs. Laughlin Q: What do you do as a lab tech? Q: Are any of the germs you see at work dangerous? Q: Do you see germs doing your job? How do you see them? Q: What kind of germs do you see most often? Q: How do you know what kind they are?

Germs cause sicknesses like: THE FLUMALERIAH1N1 FIFTHS DISEASESTREP THROAT And problems like: ATHLETES FOOT RINGWORM HOW ?

The Common Cold Colds are caused by up to 200 different kinds of viruses. Colds last 5-7 days. Colds are spread when other people cough or sneeze and their mucus floats in the air.

The Common Cold Once the cold germs are in your body, they attack upper respiratory system. The germs ATTACK and multiply. After they multiply - they attack other cells and cause the body to react.

The Common Cold Our bodies react 2 ways: Symptoms – Immune System Fights back. By creating antibodies and sending germ eating cells to get rid of the virus

The Story of the Hunt I got my idea for this project when I had an infection called Fifths disease. I got my information from books from the library, reference books, facts on the computer and through my interviews. I learned a lot about Power Point as I was doing my project. At first my topic was too big then I focused in on only a few things. That made it better.
