5 Bulgaria opens its labour market The Council of Ministers of Bulgaria approved with a Decision on 21.12.2006 the position of Bulgaria to apply the Community law in the field of free movement of workers Work-permit stays for third country nationals 1000 citizens of third countries work currently in the country

6 Current picture of the employment in Bulgaria people in a working age- 5 245.5 Employed-3 004.5 Unemployed-356 054 117 307 people of the unemployed are with a secondary vocational/general education 22 687 people of the unemployed are with a higher education 299 000 people (for the first half of 2006) are “discouraged”; 99 400 of them are with a secondary general/vocational education 16.900 of them are with a higher education

7 Measures to ensure qualification of the working force 47 376 people have been included in qualification training in 2006 More than 43 000 people will get qualified in 2007 Statistics is an important tool to manage migration The migration policy of Bulgaria reflects our commitment to comply with the EU law but at the same time it takes into consideration our national interest
