HOW TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF CAMPUS RESOUCES visit each of the offices and learn what each does…pick up brochure find out who is the director and associate director (i.e., contact persons(s) and telephone number) keep an address book determine how this office can assist you… find a potential mentor, employment site, etc… “SOMETIMES IS NOT WHAT YOU KNOW, BUT WHO YOU KNOW”

FINANCIAL AID Place:Memorial Hall Time:Regular Business Hours Website: http://www.ccsu.edu/finaid/http://www.ccsu.edu/finaid/ plan to arrive early receives results of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): –must complete FAFSA every year while in college, submit immediately following the New Years Holiday: DON’T FORGET PIN NUMBER TO RENEW FAFSA awards financial aid = first come, first served –plan to go on pipeline to accept financial aid award –waive health plan –secure loan explains financial aid procedure manages loan forms scholarship/grant paper work handles financial documents (keep copies & obtain receipt)

COLLEGE WORK-STUDY VERSUS NON-WORK STUDY STUDENTS WORK STUDY: eligibility based on family income and assets (information obtained from the FAFSA) review your financial aid award (via pipeline) determine the amount for the year (fall and spring semester) half of the amount applies to the fall and half to the spring call the different offices on campus to locate a job or visit the career office (DiLoretto Hall, room 100) set up an appointment for an interview fill-out employment papers decide on the weekly schedule NON-WORK STUDY; review your financial aid award (via pipeline) locate places on campus that hire non-college work study students set up an appointment for an interview fill-out employment papers decide on the weekly schedule place to look into: Sodexho Food Service IMPORTANT: Ms. Gladys Colon-Lawson would be the person to speak to if you believe that you are eligible for college work study.
