3 Program Mission n A mentoring program designed to introduce minority High School and undergraduate students from Low Income backgrounds to science research with an intent to encourage them to pursue higher education in science based career.

4 Goals n To involve students from minority/low income background in basic science research n To expose the students to the scientific community through participation in national science conferences

8 Program Requirements n American Chemical Society Project SEED n Requirements: Students eligible to apply must be enrolled in or have completed a chemistry course, must have an interest in science, and comply with the ACS definition of disadvantaged as: –Students from households with a low-family income whose household annual income is below $30,000 or does not exceed 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines for family size. Reasonable exceptions are made for total household income up to $42,000 for: Students belonging to an ethnic group underrepresented in the sciences (African American, Hispanic, American Indian), Students whose parents did not attend college, and Students from a single-parent or a large family. n Stipends & Duration of Program –$1,750 to $2000 –8-10 weeks duration of the program
