4 Map of Britain Great Britain is a country made up of three kingdoms England, Scotland and Wales. The capital of England is London. The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh. The capital of Wales is Cardiff.

6 Facts about Britain The population of Britain is 58 million. The official language is English. The term British refers to people, places and things from England, Scotland and Wales. The capital city, London, is in the southeast and is situated at both sides of the River Thames.

7 Weather in Britain Britain has all four seasons. winter, summer, spring and qutumn

8 Seasons Spring - March to May Summer - June to August Autumn - September to November Winter - December to February

9 It sometimes snows, but mainly in Scotland. The weather is often different across the country.

21 Breakfast A traditional breakfast consists of eggs, bacon, sausages, fried bread, mushrooms and baked beans. A typical English breakfast is a bowl of cereals, a slice of toast, orange juice and A cup of coffee.

29 Pets More than 50 per cent of British families own a pet. They keep cats, dogs, budgerigars and goldfish. Some |British like keeping small animals, snakes, spiders or even reptiles.

33 Red deer feed on grass. In summer they only feed in the morning and in the evening. They also have strong teeth.

34 pygmy shrew This is the smallest mammal found in the UK. A fully grown pygmy shrew is around a quarter of the size of a house mouse. The average weight is around 4 grams
