LESSON AIM What evidence do historians have regarding the nature of change during the Renaissance ?

Thematic Identification The painting below was an example of “Renaissance” painting. It is a distinct change from Medieval art. “Renaissance” describes the period in history from about 1400-1650. In your groups and based on your knowledge of the previous period, decide how this picture demonstrates CHANGE from the Middle Age art and ideas. The Birth of Venus

BACKGROUND By the 16th century, Europe experienced major changes in political, economic and social conditions. These changes were evident in monumental works of art and in new economic and political theories.
