Press the edges down firmly. 6.Now, cut of the two points that are sticking up, in a straight line underneath them. 7.You should be left with a triangle. The History of Chocolate Chip Cookies
9
The chocolate chip cookie was accidentally developed by Ruth Graves Wakefield. Ruth was the owner of the Toll House Inn in Massachusetts in 1937. Ruth was making chocolate cookies but ran out of regular baker’s chocolate and substituted broken pieces of semi-sweet chocolate assuming it would melt and mix into the batter. However, it did not, and the cookie with chips of chocolate was born. Ruth sold the recipe to Nestle in exchange for a lifetime supply of chocolate chips. Now every bag of Nestle chocolate chips in North America has Ruth Wakefield’s original recipe printed on the back. Did you know that today, half of the cookies baked in American homes are chocolate-chip, with an estimated seven billion consumed annually.
