The Water Cycle By Amy Blem Ramirez
2
What are the different water sources that you think we get our water from? Ground water Fresh-water lakes Rivers
3
If we have 3 big water sources how much of Earth’s water is usable by humans?
4
The water cycle consists of three main parts: Condensation Precipitation Evaporation
5
Condensation This is the process when water changes from a vapor to a liquid
6
Precipitation This is when water is being released from clouds which may occur in many different forms. What are some ways that the water may be released? –Rain –Sleet –Snow –Hail *Precipitation begins after water vapor, which has condensed in the atmosphere, becomes too heavy to remain in atmospheric air currents(in the clouds) and it falls.
7
Evaporation This is water evaporating from the ground. This is also the way water vapor re-enters the atmosphere. Evaporation occurs when energy from the sun heats up water, which causes the water molecules to become so active that some of them rise into the atmosphere as vapor.
8
Some Facts about water The world’s total water supply is 326 million cubic miles. (One cubic mile of water equals more than one trillion gallons.) The United States recieves a total volume of about 4 cubic miles of precipitation a day. Each day, 280 cubic miles of water evaporate into the atmosphere.
9
Condensation is a gas changing into a liquid. Liquids evaporate into gases Freezing turns a liquid into A solid. Solids melt to become liquids. Sublimation is a solid changing Into gas. A gas becomes solid.
