Student id cards allow for remote access (username.dowling.edu) All college mail goes to your Dowling email account (email.dowling.edu) – but you can forward it Within databases, you can save or email articles and searches – this we will do Besides visiting or calling, you can email or IM with your Dowling librarian This course as well as many others, has a course guide designed specifically for it

Summary of Search Strategies Start broad & pare down Use the operators AND, OR, NOT as well as “” and * for better results Keep an eye on what the subjects and journal titles are, are they relevant to your topic? Limit your results to peer-reviewed Don’t limit to Full Text Only: It might eliminate relevant material that could either be found in another database or ILL’d

Good Stuff on the Internet How do you tell a site is credible? .org = non-profit,.edu = educational,.gov = government When was it last updated? Is it recommended by any educational associations? Is the person or site an authority in the field?
