3. Butterfly Life Cycle: Stage 1
First, the butterfly starts of as a small egg.
Eggs come in all different shapes and sizes depending on the type of butterfly.
Eggs are usually laid on leaves.

4. Butterfly Life Cycle: Stage 2
When the egg hatches, a caterpillar comes out.
Caterpillars eat a lot of leaves so they can grow quickly.

5. Butterfly Life Cycle: Stage 3
When the caterpillar is done growing, they make a Chrysalis, or pupa, around its body.
The caterpillar is transforming inside the pupa.
Stage 4

6. Butterfly Life Cycle: Stage 4
When the caterpillar is done changing, a butterfly comes out.
The butterfly learns how to fly and goes on to lay more eggs.
