Catalogue NOCS data holdings. Safe archive valuable data. Integrate into NERC Data Grid (NDG): – Different levels of integration, for example - metadata, security, data browsing, extraction, visualization. Open the catalogue to other external data and information services. RODIN: the Repository of Oceanographic Data and Information at NOCS

WEB Interface: GIS based on Google Maps. Metadata: discovery, several levels of browse and usage. Daily exported to DIF and MOLES format. ISO19115 is coming. Data: about 4Tb archived (250,000 files) through Tivoli Storage Manager on tape libraries. Internal Access: Group or project managers decide upon visibility of data and metadata. External Access: Public metadata accessed through Open Archive Initiative infrastructure. Data accessible via NDG. RODIN features

Integration of SeaDOG into RODIN 7 Ingestion of SeaDOG database: 279 cruises added. Archive of SeaDOG data: ongoing process. Envisaged access to SeaDOG data: NDG Processed Data Complete Metadata Quality Control NODB NODB gets Processed Data and Metadata from RODIN RODIN Raw, Processed Data Some Metadata Some Quality Control Get bathymetry data for Mid- Atlantic ridge Metadata Quality Control

Conclusions and Future Work SeaDOG metadata available through RODIN. Up-to-date Data constantly being archived and updated. Ongoing integration into NDG to allow external access to data Improved security Better data extraction tools GIS facilities Easier data archive tools Full ISO19115 compliance http://www.noc.soton.ac.uk/meta
