Cause-and-Effect: avoid absolute terms Having the same aim of winning the honor is a great power to tie people together, thus, good interaction and relationships between students are inevitable consequences. Being motivated by the common goal of winning the prize, the teammates work hard and get along well with one another.

Cause-and-Effect: Faulty Connection Another reason for holding Cheerleading Contest is to make students do exercise. For a short term only? Another reason for holding Cheerleading Contest is to make students develop a habit of exercising.

Avoid Obvious Prejudice To be honest, overweight students are less acceptable because of their figures. It is natural that any team joining a contest has to be selective by setting up some standard. But not being selected is not the end of the world, since there are always other activities to join. Different people are good at different things.

Not Refuting the Counter-Argument In order to win, students may think that the more expensive the better. In order to show the best, the payment for nice outfit, hairdo and professional coach is inevitable. Indeed the team needs to work within their financial limits. For instance, avoiding the expense on hairdo may be possible. However, the expense for hiring a professional coach is indispensable, since the coach can not only guide the team to perform the best, but also in the safest way.

Faulty Analogy If an adult does well in his position and does a great job, he will bring his boss or company benefits, and of course he will make good profits from doing a great job. This is like making good grades on test and then you will make money by being successful. If an adult does well at work, he will benefit the company, and then himself, since the company will raise his salary or promote him. This is the concept of “no pains, no gains”: the kids should know both the pleasure of being rewarded after making efforts, and not being so if they play around.
10
Logic We don’t have to worry that the kids will become materialistic if they get monetary awards, because when they get good grades, they will surely experience the sense of accomplishment, confidence, respects, etc. We don’t have to worry that the kids will become materialistic if they get monetary awards, because the award can be given while some other forms of encouragement are made. For instance, a hug, some praises, or even some discussion of what they have learned will surely make them feel accomplished, confident, being well-loved.
