Are viruses alive? I think viruses are neither living nor nonliving because they have all of the characteristics of life except for one they do not have cells. Viruses expend gases, reproduce, excrete waste, grow, react to environment, and need food and water. A virus does not have cells.

Is a virus a living entity No because it is not fully alive in my opinion because it does not have all the characteristics of life. For something to be alive it must reproduce, grow, have or is a cell, excrete waste, react to environment, and need food and water.

What is a virus A virus is neither living or nonliving, it is both. It reproduces by infecting a cell and it infects other cells.

My questions Is Swine flu a virus? Yes. It is called h1n1 because of the protein on it. Why is swine flu called h1n1? Do viruses have genetic disorders? No.
