11-3 Exploring Mendelian Genetics
2
Independent Assortment
The 2 Factor Cross: F1 RRYY x rryy What does it give us? The 2 Factor Cross: F2
3
Define Independent Assortment in your own words
4
Mendel’s Principles Genes are passed on from parents to their offspring In the case when there are 2 or more alleles for one gene, one may be dominant and one recessive Segregation of genes happens during meiosis The alleles that are segregated, segregate independently
5
Incomplete Dominance One allele is not completely dominant over another
6
Co dominance Both alleles contribute to the phenotype
7
Multiple alleles More than two alleles control a trait
8
Polygenic Traits Traits are controlled by 2 or more genes
Eg. Eye color Skin color (4 genes)
