Thank you all for attending today's very enlightening offerings It is so important that we gather together and spend time focusing on the new information and learning from each other. I know we are all busy and appreciate the time you are taking to continue to improve the comprehensive services to the research enterprise. With the emphasis being on growth and change in the next short term and certainly from the strategic plan initiatives, we thought it would be good to hear from 2 people who will be instrumental in the growth of research in the immediate future.

Dr. Thoroughgood, whom many of you know, has served as the Vice Provost for Research & Graduate Studies since 2005. Prior to her current post, she served as Dean of the College of Marine Studies for 20 years. Her long history at the University of Delaware gives her a unique perspective on the current state of research and an insight to the dynamic nature of the research enterprise. Without further delay, I ask that you join me in welcoming Vice Provost Thoroughgood to the podium.
