VTPBiS Annual Report
5
VTPBiS 2010 Annual Report Statewide Summary Data: 79% of VTPBiS schools have been able to fully implement school-wide PBIS with fidelity within six months of completing their training. 78% of all schools implementing PBIS for two consecutive years maintained fidelity over that period of time. 53% of fully implementing schools have gone on to work on implementation of the targeted level of support for students with more intensive needs within one year. Overall average post implementation fidelity scores for the fully implementing schools is 88%. All implementing VTPBiS schools have improved systems for teaching behavioral expectations by 79% and overall behavioral support systems by 35%.

7
Problem Statement What: – Student receiving 0-1 ODRs have decreased by 3%. Students receiving 6+ ODRs have increased by 3% Where: – In PBIS Schools When: – Over Two Years of Reportable Data Who: – Statewide PBIS Schools Why: – (one reason?) Length of time of implementation What other info needed? – Schools Interpretation of the Data

Our Problem Statement is….. Student receiving 0-1 ODRs have decreased by 3%. Students receiving 6+ ODRs have increased by 3% in PBIS Schools over two years of reportable data statewide motivated by… (Create Hypothesis Statement Here)

Solution Development What can the VTPBiS State Team do to support solutions? Prevention Offer schools professional development in classroom management …. Teaching Refine team leadership training …. Reward Annual Celebration Forum BEST/Act 230 Grants …. Extinction Help schools focus on accomplishments and successes …. Corrective Consequences Coaching, re-teaching, practicing …. Data Collection Use data to target specific interventions

Solutions – Generic Strategies Prevent – – Remove or alter “trigger” for problem behavior Define & Teach – – Define behavioral expectations; provide demonstration/instruction in expected behavior (alternative to problem behavior Reward/reinforce – – The expected/alternative behavior when it occurs; prompt for it, as necessary Withhold reward/reinforcement – – For the problem behavior, if possible (“Extinction”) Use non-rewarding/non-reinforcing corrective consequences – When problem behavior occurs Although not a “solution strategy,” Safety may need to be considered (i.e., procedures that may be required to decrease likelihood of injuries or property damage) 10
