Before European settlement, the land now occupied by Melbourne was occupied by Indigenous people, of the Wurundjeri and Boonwurrung tribes, who lived on the land for about 40,000 years. Now, Melbourne has a metropolitan area population of approximately 3.8 million.

In Melbourne in 2006 the population was 3,524,302. Then the population increased to 3,744,373. The last study taken, in 2007 says that the populations increased to a greater 3,806,092.

The MCG was opened in 1854 and is the largest sports complex in Australia. It seats a total of 100,000 people and the ground fills to capacity at the AFL Grand Final and at the ANZAC day clash. ‘The G’ has held the Olympic games in 1956 and major international music acts such as: U2, Madonna and Michael Jackson.

Formerly colonial stadium, Telstra dome was opened in 2000. The stadium features movable seating and a closable roof to cater for all types of sports or other events. The Ground seats 56,347 people.

Rod Laver Arena is host to the Australian open and most tennis matches in Australia. The Ground seats around 15,000. The ground reached a record attendance when Justin Timberlake performed in 2007.

Located in Albert Park, Melbourne the Australian grand prix circuit. Is one of Melbourne’s most visited attractions. The Grand Prix is held their every year.

The Eureka tower is a 300m tall skyscraper located in south bank, Melbourne. It is Arguably the largest residential building in the world, the tallest is on, the tallest is only higher because of the spire on the top of the structure.
