2. Pierre de Coubertin France has been with the Olympics since they were first revived. The modern Olympic Games were founded by Pierre Fredy, Baron de Coubertin (1863-1937), a French aristocrat who believed that better physical education could have kept France from their military defeats in the late 1800’s. His movement gradually gained support, and the first modern Olympic games were held in 1896.
