Initial Tracking Tests of DHC Tower Update - 09/24/2003 Kurt Francis, Donna Kubik - Northern Illinois University

Current Status Very primitive tracking software Using Visual Basic PMT #1 (Bottom) is given priority because PMT#1 generates the Dynode 12 signal - used to generate trigger Layers 1 and 2 are connected to PMT#1 Treats layers as pairs Simple logic –For every column ; if either 1 or 2 cells from one column in layers 1 & 2 are hits then start track - counts layers hit –Every column of layer pairs 3 and 4 - count layers hit

Summary With 10 QDC counts from Pedestal as the threshold only 4% of the events have tracks that pass through all four layers. All of them are straight through a column The percentage of 3 layer tracks is a strong function of the threshold

Next Steps Still want to do more tests with Light Yield and S.P.E. Try to use dynode-12 signal from second PMT to create 4-way coincidence trigger or to replace one of the Paddles Improved tracking software Test different arrays with available PMTs
