3 Civilization, as you know it, has been destroyed by Killer Tomatoes from Io. You and your clan are trying to understand what’s going on with the planet. Your clan has liberated EOSS headquarters and they are now at your disposal. Your clan also has discovered various resources including large amounts of gaseous helium, latex balloons, miniature computers, foam core, various batteries, cameras, timing circuits, and KT’s BBQ, which still continues to operate in Boulder. The fate of planet Earth is in your hands.

4 Mission: Each team will get a BalloonSat Kit Each kit contains the same equipment Only several pre-assembled systems (Julia Child) Your team must assemble experiments, test system, and integrate components Your team’s BalloonSat must weigh less than 700 grams and a volume less than 1,500 cm 3

5 Mission: Each kit contains the following: Camera Kit Structures Kit AVR Kit Software Kit Heater Kit Soldering Kit

6 Your Kit: Other items at your disposal: - Soldering Irons - Soldering Tools - Multimeter - Laptop - Velcro - Foam Insulation - Foam Core - Scale - Bandages

7 Mission: - Your team should only have 4 members - We have kits for each team -All hardware in this tub, is for you and your team to keep - Items not in the tub shall be left behind - PLEASE DON’T WORK AHEAD -After completing each step, please wait for direction before proceeding Don’t think that there is nothing cool about these simple BalloonSats

10 Team Forming: - How many of you have ever been on a team? - Were they scary? - Was there a bully? - Teamwork is essential to every company - You will be involved with some sort of teamwork in every job - The better you work in a team, the more successful you will be

11 Team Success Tips: Teams must have a LEADER - Elect one or volunteer - Assign tasks, don’t do all the work

12 Team Success Tips: Teams must share RESPONSIBILITES - Don’t be afraid to get outside your comfort zone - Don’t assume who is or should be doing what - The world is different from your parents world

13 Team Success Tips: Teams must have MEETINGS - Meet at least once per week outside class - Meet at the same time, same place if possible - All team members should be there

14 Team Success Tips: Teams must have good COMMUNICATION - Make sure everyone is included - Use email but don’t be afraid of the phone - Websites work

15 Team Success Tips: Always remember the GOAL and the SCHEDULE

16 Team Success Tips: Ask for HELP early - Don’t let little team problems balloon into big fueds - Ask you instructor to help mediate the issues Be ORGANIZED Have FUN
