3 The Ten Qualities of a Liberally Educated Person  They listen and they hear…..  They read and they understand…  They can talk with anyone…

4 The Ten Qualities of a Liberally Educated Person  They can write clearly and persuasively and movingly…  They can solve a wide variety of puzzles and problems…

5 The Ten Qualities of a Liberally Educated Person  They respect rigor not so much for its own sake but as a way of seeking truth…  They practice humility, tolerance, and self-criticism…

6 The Ten Qualities of a Liberally Educated Person  They understand how to get things done in the world…  They nurture and empower the people around them…  They follow E.M. Forster’s injunction from Howards End: “Only connect…”

7 Group Work  Theresa will assign everyone to a group.  Study the “trait” you have received.  As a group, give an example of how you can achieve this “trait” while you are in college.

8 Group Work  As a group, decide on a person who possesses this trait.  Appoint a spokesperson and a recorder.
