PREPERATION Remove steel flux return plates to expose gaps. Remove RPC s and clean gaps of debris

CONCEPT STAGE WITH CRANE PUSH BRASS INTO SLOT NOMINAL LENGTH OF THE BARREL PLATES IN THE ~Z~ DIRECTION 147.64 IN. NOMINAL LENGTH OF 14 BRASS PLATES IN THE ~Z~ DIRECTION 147.00 IN.

BRASS PLATE OPTIONS IF A PLATE IS TWISTED we have a spare for each length IF A PLATE ENDS UP BEING TO LONG we can cut shorter IF A PLATE HAS INCORRECT CAMBER a recamber fixture will be on hand IF PLATES STACK TOL IN Z MAKES ASSEMBLY TOO LONG selective installation process we can cut one plate

PUSH / PULL FRICTION TEST Built test plate 315lbs Measure force required to move plate on a similar painted surface Will plate jam easily How many people does it take to install

INSTALLATION TIME BOTTOM SEXTANT 5.5 days total 51 Minutes per plate average TOP SEXTANT 4.5 days total 42 minutes per plate average

CONCLUSIONS & COMMENTS Status of design Parts for upper fixture are being fabricated and assembled in the shops now Parts for lower are being drawn and will be submitted for fabrication next week. Have not given much thought to 2005 installation design yet.
