2. NC IHDP- Spain  Organ assigned to the IHDP  Constituted in the scope of the MEC (9 Members)  Location: IUCA (UCM); Madrid, Spain  Financed by: National program of International Cooperation in Science and Technology of the National Plan R+D+I (2004-07).

3. Aims of NC IHDP- Spain (1)  To disclose information relative to the IHDP in the national scientific community.  To spread the knowledge of the research activities of the Spanish scientific community, in the scope of IHDP.  To impel the participation of the national scientific community in the initiatives organized by the IHDP.

4. Aims of NC IHDP- Spain (2)  To promote initiatives that contribute to increase the scientific research quality on the human, economic and social dimensions of global change.  To represent the Spanish interests in the IHDP.  To integrate HDGEC research into and to coordinate them with interdisciplinary GEC projects.  To collaborate and to advise the MEC authorities in the matter of: a. identification of national priorities of scientific policy; b. international scientific cooperation policy.

5. Activities of NC IHDP- Spain: 2005-06  Development of its functions as: - nexus with the IHDP, and - National Focal Point.  Elaboration of a survey (Spanish scientists and research groups/Centers).  Elaboration of a data base.  Identification of high-priority areas of research.  Elaboration and update a WEB page.  Development of diffusion activities and exchange national and international information.  Setting up a network of Spanish scientists and research groups/Centers.

6. NC IHDP- Spain/ CEICAG  The President of NC IHDP- Spain represents the NC on CEICAG (Spanish Committee on Global Change Research), which is integrated also with the presidents of: IGBP, DIVERSITAS, SCOPE, SCOR, WCRP, SCAR and IGBP National Committees.  Supported by the MEC, the CEICAG’s purpose is: a. to improve interdisciplinary research on GEC; b. to coordinate efforts; and c. to optimize resources, in this matter.
