Expected Results: Radiation Dosimeter o Small Variations with Temperature o ~1-2 rad radiation Image Processing Algorithms o Blob locations correctly identified o Processing times: < 20s Visible Camera o Images taken across launch profile, stored to Flash.
3
Actual Results: Radiation Dosimeter o RS-232 Transceive/Receive faulty o Board layout likely problem Image Processing Algorithms o Blobs Correctly Identified o Average Processing Time: 6s (software release) mode) Visible Camera o Serial Port Camera trigger problems o Image buffer overwritten continuously
4
Conclusions and Actions: Radiation Dosimeter o Correct board layout o Temperature effects testing Image Processing Algorithms o Test with live images, visible or thermal o Continue to optimize for performance Visible Camera o Finish development on Firewire interface o Better storage to Flash.

Lessons Learned Board Layout is a Multi-Rev Process o Compressed schedule = Bad layout and dead boards ESD is important! Sensor I/O and writing to memory is not an afterthought. Flight software testing with instruments doesn’t usually go according to plan. Murphy’s Law rules component building and integration.
