2 Brady Plan Brady Plan: Named after the U.S. Treasury Secretary (1988 - 1993) consisted in the re-structuring of debt payments in developing countries. Starting in 1989 participating nations exchanged their short-term high-interest debt for long-term low-interest debt with reduced principals.

4 Economic Integration Economic integration: The term covers (1) preferential tariffs (2) free trade associations (3) customs unions (4) common markets (5) economic unions (6) full economic integration.

7 Inflation Targeting Inflation targeting: A publicly stated inflation objective that anchors the monetary policy and increases transparency. Countries with inflation targets are: United Kingdom, Australia, South Korea, Brazil and South Africa.
