June 7, 2010MOM Report-Coney4 Beam Beam Magnets —Software update done on magnet controls – May 25 o Solved problem of resetting current to zero and re-ramping o Implemented step of ~20 A at beginning/end of ramp –None hang at low current now —Tested 6 hrs w/o problems & used during running May 27/28 o There is still some communication problem that causes current to drop o Not a magnet trip – rapid reramp, but is real o Need record data/shifter pay attention to identify issue —Slew rate control of magnet ramp implemented o Ramp fairly slow – rate is being calculated by S. Griffiths —Sometimes D2 control says “OFF” when “ON” – PROBLEM SOLVED Proton absorber —Nee extra ~50mm plastic for protons in a 240 Mev/c muon beam o Geoff building addition to absorber – will install this week —Need webcam to verify configuration from MLCR – DONE & visible from MLCR
5
June 7, 2010MOM Report-Coney5 MLCR DAQ —Still had errors during running o Particle event mismatch errors & still contain data after readout —No problems with muon beam configuration – only ~6 particle triggers/spill —DAQ aborted on TOF0 trigger - spills with 155 particle triggers o Upgrade to new version of DATE should fix this (happens next week when JS at RAL) Error Summary —Thursday – 13 Runs attempted o 4 (31%):Good Runs > 500 pulses o 5 (38%):crashed DAQ due to too many particle triggers ~150 o 1 (8%):V1290 error – TDC problem o 1 (8%):fatal particle event mismatch o 2 (15%):magnet currents changed —Friday – 16 Runs attempted o 9 (56%):Good Runs > 500 (or 1000) pulses o 1 (6%):ISIS trip o 4 (25%):V1290 error o 2 (13%):fatal particle event mismatch
