Ser v. Estar There are two different ways of saying ‘to be’ in Spanish. Ser and estar both mean ‘to be’. Look at the following examples: Soy inglesa, pero estoy en Irlanda. (jag är engelsk men är = befinner mig (nu) i Irland) Estoy feliz porque el hotel es grande y tiene piscina. (jag är glad eftersom hotellet är stort och har en pool)
