2 G 1  The title is “ Adding Some Color to Your Life. ” What would you expect to read in the text? (prediction tree) Does the first paragraph match what you expected? Why?  In line 4-5, the author says “ It plays an important role in our lives. ” Is this a conclusion? What ’ s the reason? Can we say something plays an important role in our lives simply because it ’ s everywhere around us?

3 G2  In Line 6, why does the author say “ for example ” ? What fact is the author trying to prove? Is it successful? Why?  In Line 8, the author says “ yellow is the color of the emperor in China. ” Is it true? Why? What do you think of when you think of yellow?

4 G2 (2)  In Line 10-12, the author says “ red suggests the wish for good things to happen; it ’ s used for Chinese New Year and other celebrations. ” Are these still true? What do you usually do with the color red?  In Line 14, the author says “ red is the color for Valentine ’ s Day. ” Does it match your experiences? Why?  In Line 18-19, why would Westerners never wear white to a funeral? Make a guess.
