13 Conclusion: 1) Assuming Gateway mechanism to hold (see slide 12): 2h resonance excitation to g 3  + (1), v´=0 (and f 3  3,2,1, v´=0) followed by crossing over to a “Gateway Rydberg state” (C 1  ; b 3  1); g 3  - (1)) and dissociation to H + Cl or H+ Cl* followed by further photon exciation to form Cl+ will require 2 + 3 = 5 photons 2) No clear resonance excitation via Cl* in step 3 (see slide 12) is to be found for (2+n) REMPI via J´=3 in g 3  + (1), v´=0 (see slides 9 &11, where enhanced I(35Cl+)/I(H35Cl+) value is observed (see NEW state paper)
