Summer Learning Objectives Present an overview of Convergys Business Process Outsourcing solution for the State of Florida. Receive verbal instruction from Srikanya Karumuri on QA assignments. Complete those assignments as needed. Complete QA assignments within the time frame specified by Srikanya Karumuri. Gain a working knowledge of SAP HR/Org Management. Present an overview of HR/Org Management functionality to Mariam Usman. Document a status report weekly and submit to Srikanya Karumuri (with copy to Mariam Usman and Sheila Barker) by 4:00 PM each Thursday.

Project Description When I started working at Convergys, I joined the State of Florida project. The State of Florida project handles all of the HR services for the State of Florida. My biggest project this summer was the Scramble data production item. I had to go into the front-end and back-end of SAP and help write a code to change all SOF employees confidential information. Before I left Convergys, the Scramble Data item had went through production and the SOF paid Convergys for our time and effort.

Internship Responsibilities Reviewed functional specifications to determine test cases. Participated in testing and requirements gathering meetings involving developers, configuration analysts, business analysts and clients. Ensured Change Requests for Defect fixes were developed according to specifications. Responsible for quality of work that was moved into production. Developed detailed test strategies, scenarios, conditions, scripts and test plans for the purpose of testing and validating each assignment.

Intern Symposium Convergys is a very diverse company. In June Convergys offered all the interns a paid trip to Cincinnati, Ohio (Convergys headquaters). Convergys called it “The Internb Symposium.” At the Symposium all of Convergys interns were in training classes for different assessments for the workplace. We had a panel discussion made up of INROADS alumni and the executive board. We also had the opportunity to meet the CEO, Jim Orr, and ask any questions that concerned the company, our future, or his position in the company.

Challenges Faced During my internship at Convergys, I only I had one challenge. The challenge I had was communicating through email (written communication). I did not like to write emails, so I always called whomever I needed to contact. At the end of my internship, I started writing more emails and doing less calling.

Overall Experience At the beginning, I though internships was a waste of time. After this summer, I am happy that I was granted the opportunity to work with a great company. Convergys gave me the opportunity to work with different people, so I could make a better choice about the career path I wanted to take in the future. They invested in my future and I think that was great. Convergys helped me to improve on many skills that were weak. Convergys showed me what it is really like to work in the real world. I had deadlines like everyone else and no one showed me any special attention. I was a regular employee to everyone who worked there. Convergys helped me to gain more skills also. I loved my internship and I cannot wait to go back next summer for a much better experience.
