1 Apple Lab - September 4, 2009 Residual Hot Spot – Planned Paper Useful Items: Photographs from 2008 and 2009. I’ve made a PowerPoint with more photographs, but the file is too large to send via email. Here I’m including just two of the pictures: new Poa pratensis leaves growing into a hotspot in July 2008, and an October 2008 view of a hotspot. Root Images – since the root tubes are remaining in place, we may be able to see when roots begin growing in the spring and link this to growth in residual hot spots. Measurements of fluorescence and chlorophyll content in individual dandelion leaves with leaf color along with observations and some measurements of new dandelion leaves growing after death of pre-carbon dandelion leaves. Webcam and resulting images linked to phenology.

2 New leaves of Kentucky Bluegrass, Poa pratensis, Growing in Hot Spot 7-29-2008

3 Oct. 23, 2008. Autumn view of a hotspot. Mushrooms, Marasmius oreades, grew along the edge of it.
