How do I apply? 9 Savings History Do I need to demonstrate savings history?
If you are a continuing student and have completed more than 75% of your principle course, NO. YES: If you are from an Assessment Level 3 country = 3 months savings history immediately prior to date of lodgement If you are from an Assessment Level 4 country = 6 months savings history immediately prior to date of lodgement We base our assessment on the minimum balance held during this period of savings history For more information on acceptable sponsors see the DIAC website at 4/financial.htm

10 Savings History How do DIAC calculate savings history?
The period DIAC assess is the 3/6 months immediately prior to the date you lodge your new application e.g. On the 01/01/2010 you lodge an application with DIAC for a new student visa. You will therefore need to demonstrate the required amount of AUD$X has been held for the period between: AL3 = 01/10/2009 to the 01/01/2010 AL4 = 01/07/2009 to the 01/01/2010 Note: This amount must be the minimum account balance for the entire savings history period! If the balance of the account falls below the required amount it will not demonstrate savings history.

11 English Language Proficiency
Can I use my previous IELTS results? If your previous IELTS test was completed less than 24 months before the date you lodge, YES If your previous IELTS test was completed more than 24 months before the date you lodge you will need to resit an IELTS test You must book the next available test and attach the receipt for your booking to your online application Once you receive your results after 13 days you will need to scan and attach to your online application

12 Year 11 / 12 Equivalency How can I prove Year 11 / 12 equivalency?
If you have completed Year 11 / 12 overseas or in Australia; or If you have previously completed a Certificate IV or higher in Australia You will be required to attach evidence of your previous studies to your online application, such as certificates and academic transcripts.

To guarantee priority processing you must: Download the relevant checklist and collect the required documentation before you lodge Ensure you complete the online application by answering all the questions Ensure that you attach the required documents at time of lodgement Complete your medicals and IELTS test (if applicable) in advance Apply before the expiry of your current visa Ensure you record a current address and check this account for any further requests from DIAC
